Bahamas Travel Diary: Grand Hyatt Baha Mar

In July 2023, I had the opportunity to experience the beauty of the Bahamas as a Hyatt Ambassador at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar! You can check out my Instagram highlight with more details from the trip here. From the magnificent property to the incredible amenities to the exceptional kosher food options, it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime trip and I'm excited to share it with you!

The Property:
From the moment I arrived at the property, there were gorgeous views everywhere you look and it was full of colorful Bahamian decor. My room had a beautiful view of the ocean and a luxurious bathroom to relax and unwind after a day at the beach!

During my tour of Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, I got to check out some of the rooms and suites in their other hotels Rosewood and SLS. There was a full kitchen and even laundry - would be great for a longer-term stay.

There are 7 outdoor swimming pools and 4 hot tubs on the property. Each of the outdoor pools has a unique design and feel, including fun and active or quiet and relaxing. The pools have different features, including a huge cave, waterfalls, fountains, an aquarium and a rock jumping cliff. The Blue Hole pool has a cave with an aquarium inside!

Dining Options:

The property had lots of dining options, including sit down restaurants and cafes where you could grab and go and the best part was all of the incredible kosher options available! Although I do not keep strictly kosher, I only eat kosher meat and it was so nice to not worry about what to order. Grand Hyatt Baha Mar would also be the perfect place to come if you were traveling with friends or family members who do keep kosher.

Cinko Baha Mar is a fully kosher, Asian Latino grill (meat restaurant) and it is open all year round. We did Shabbat services and ate Shabbat dinner there. Many other Jewish guests from all over the world joined us during Shabbat too. The meals at Cinko were out of this world. Kids under 5 eat free (except for Shabbat meals). Cinko's dedication to 100% kosher food and quality ingredients make this Latin fusion dining experience incredible! The service was spectacular - everyone was kind, warm and helpful.

By the beach, there are many food trucks. One of the food trucks is called Knosh and is actually certified kosher Cholov Yisroel under strict supervision of Chabad of the Bahamas! The menu at Knosh includes vegetarian and pescatarian options, flatbreads, bowls, sandwiches and salads. There's even a hand washing station by the tables.

After dinner one night, we got to enjoy drinks and live music at the Jazz Bar. The Parisian cafe Madeline offers gelato, pastries, and kosher prepared foods. Scoops ice cream offers kosher options! So yummy!

Waterpark:
Located directly adjacent to Baha Mar resort, Baha Bay is a beachfront waterpark set on 15 acres. The state-of-the-art waterpark offers an array of experiences for the entire family including: towering raft rides, drop slides, free fall slides, a wave pool, an action river, a one-of-a-kind surf simulator and the only water-coaster in the Caribbean.

Baha Mars Wildlife Sanctuary

I loved checking out the water life experience at the Sanctuary Exploration Center. Baha Mar's Wildlife Sanctuary offers guided tours where dedicated professionals feed and interact with nurse sharks, stingrays, green sea turtles and more. I loved learning about these sea creatures and getting to interact with them up close. We got to touch the sea life in the touch tank. I held a starfish, a sea urchin, sea anemone and touched a conch fish.

Other Amenities

The spa was beautiful and offered so many treatments. There is also a full gym and nail studio inside. I got the most relaxing massage!

The convention center is an amazing event space and they do lots of Jewish weddings and offer kosher catering too.
We had lots of fun doing a Sip 'N Paint activity, which is perfect for a rainy day or to do with a group.

Flamingos are the National bird of the Bahamas and there are more than 80,000 living on the island! It was not uncommon to see flamingos walking around the property. I loved meeting Sunny and Baha, two of the flamingos who live on the resort.

Final Thoughts

Grand Hyatt Bahamar has something for everyone! I loved my kid-free experience, but between the pools, the water park, the shops, the food, activities and more, the resort is also so family friendly! The impressive kosher dining options make this resort especially exceptional! It was an unforgettable trip and I hope to come back with my husband and children one day!
