Supplies

  1. Plain pillowcase

  2. Washable markers in assorted colors

  3. Spray bottle of water

  4. Permanent marker

  5. Glitter glue (optional)

  6. Washable paint

  7. Scissors

Directions

  1. Take your pillowcase and fold it in half. (For a smaller matzah cover, use a child's size pillowcase.)

  2.  Using a Sharpie, write the word "Matzah" in Hebrew on the closed end. (See the letters here: מצה for reference.) Make sure to leave enough space above the word for your child's handprints.

  3.  With your washable colored markers, scribble all over the bottom half of the pillow case.

  4.  With your spray bottle, spray the pillowcase with water all over the colored markers and watch the colors bleed. Continue to scribble and spray until you get your desired design.

  5.  Hang up your pillowcase to dry. (This may take a while, depending on how wet it is.)

  6.  Once it is dry, cover your child's palms with paint (you can use a paint brush or squirt the paint on a plate and have them dip their hands in it) and mark the pillow case with their handprints.

  7.  Optional: take your glitter glue and cover the letters of the word "Matzah" for some extra sparkle.

  8.  Lastly, write your child's name and date in the corner of your pillowcase. Use at your seder for years to come!
