Pom Pom Baby Sprinkle

I am so excited to finally share all of the details of the whimsical baby sprinkle we threw for my friend and beautiful second-time mama Yael a few weeks ago. My talented friend and DIY blogger Marisa of The Neon Tea Party and I got to collaborate on this special event together and it turned out better than I could have even imagined! We ate sprinkle-covered treats, shared our wishes for the baby, and made a one-of-a-kind pom pom mobile to hang in the nursery 👶🏻 Read on to see all of the sweet details of this sprinkle celebration!

My friend Yael and I met when we were pregnant and Adina and Yael’s son were born just a couple of weeks apart. We’ve shared the ups and downs of pregnancy and motherhood with each other over the past year and a half. When Yael told me she was due with baby #2, I was in awe! She managed to juggle a full-time job, publishing her first book, and raising an energetic toddler, all while pregnant! In my book, all mothers-to-be and new babies deserve to be celebrated, so I knew I wanted to do something special for her. Enter Marisa of The Neon Tea Party! She leads interactive pom pom workshops and offers her services for special events like bridal showers, baby showers, and birthday parties.

Since Yael already had many of the baby essentials she needed from her older son, we were not going to do a traditional baby shower. Instead, we planned a baby sprinkle - a low-key shower typically done for second-time (or third-time) mamas. Our goal was to host a gathering for Yael’s close friends and family to celebrate the upcoming arrival of her new baby. Marisa and I put our heads together and planned the most colorful baby sprinkle! We also had the pleasure of collaborating with some incredibly talented vendors to bring this epic sprinkle to life!

Invitation Suite

We worked with the talented Danielle of Rothbyrns Creative to create customized stationery including an Invitation, food place cards, and labels for the party favors. They came out beautifully and set the tone for the whole event! Check out her Instagram to see more of her work!

Menu

We wanted the menu to closely reflect the sprinkles theme! We served a signature Pom cocktail, using champagne (and sparkling cider for the mocktail version) with a splash of pomegranate juice. I followed Marisa’s sprinkle rim DIY to jazz up the champagne flutes and Marisa created pom pom stirrers as a finishing touch. For sweet treats, we served Rice Krispy treat party pops, chocolate covered pretzels, and the show-stopping sprinkle cake with pom pom cake topper. Let’s just say I was on a sugar high for days!

Decor

The dessert table was definitely the focal point of the sprinkle. We used a white tablecloth as the backdrop to make all of the menu items pop and we decorated it with pastel-colored confetti. Marisa found the cutest paper goods from Meri Meri and provided the perfect pastel-colored cake stands to display the desserts. No party is complete without centerpieces! I put my own spin on classic flower arrangements by filling glass vases with rainbow sprinkles and fresh white hydrangeas. Right above the dessert table, we displayed a silver foil “BABY” balloon with handmade tassels. As a parting gift, guests received a fun, glass jar filled with sprinkles with customized stickers by Danielle that said “Thank you for sprinkling your love.”

Party Games

The highlight of the baby sprinkle was definitely the group activity that the mama-to-be and her guests got to do together. Marisa taught all of us how to make pom poms (it was my first time making one!) and we each created ones of all different colors. Marisa worked her magic and using our pom poms, she assembled a beautiful mobile to be hung above the new baby’s crib. It was so amazing to see the mobile come to life before our eyes! Caitlin from Favors and Stuff created custom “Wishes for Baby” cards that guests filled out and shared with Yael. What was so special about this idea, is that mom-to-be can keep these cards and save them in a baby book or album to share with the baby when they’re older.

Photography

We had the pleasure of working with the talented Christiana Mecca on the event photography. Not only did Christiana take shots of the decor and food before the guests arrived, but she snapped some gorgeous photos of Yael and her family - some of the last pictures taken before they became a family of four! Christiana captured so many beautiful candid moments - big and small - throughout the sprinkle as well. Check out her Instagram to see more of her work.

I am so glad we got to celebrate this deserving mama-to-be in such a special way. I hope Yael and baby boy felt all the love from the sprinkle and will cherish these memories for years to come.
