Rainbow Playroom Reveal!

I’m so excited to finally share our playroom with you! This is actually the first room in our new apartment that I am revealing on the blog! Ever since we moved over the summer, we’ve been making progress on lots of different house projects, but the biggest priority was working on the spaces for the kids. This is the first time we’ve lived somewhere with space for a playroom, and it was actually one of the things that sold us on the apartment! Ever since the pandemic began, we’ve been spending more and more time at home, so it was important for us to have a dedicated place for all of the kids’ toys, costumes, and arts and craft supplies. We mostly used items we already had, but we did get a few new pieces for the space. Keep reading to see how we transformed our empty basement into the girls’ rainbow playroom!

For the artwork, we displayed a combination of pieces we already owned and some new prints. I took some artwork that my parents saved from my childhood bedroom and hung them together, which was very nostalgic for me. The Marry Poppins needlepoint was handmade by my great grandmother in 1990, with a special message that she wrote on the back!

I love decorating with sentimental and meaningful art. On the main wall above the girls’ toy shelves, we added a small gallery wall using new prints from Modern Mitzvah in a rainbow theme. The first one has the letters of the Hebrew alphabet printed on them and the other has a beautiful quote from Rabbi Nachman of Breslov that says “The day you were born is the day God decided the world could not exist without you.” I just love it! The colors and the quality are amazing! In between those two prints, is a watercolor painting that my grandmother made over 30 years ago and the colors from Modern Mitzvah matched perfectly with the Modern Mitzvah pieces. I love that we were able to mix some new pieces with some old ones. Use code ARIELLOVES for 15% off in their shop.

Our clothing rack is from Olive World Co. It’s the perfect size to hang the girls’ costumes and dress up clothes. I love the simplicity of the rack and it was so easy to assemble. Their shop also carries beautiful bookshelves, wooden toys, toothbrushes and more. Use code Ariel15 for 15% off in their shop.

We love rotating our toys and updating our toy shelf with Play with Yaya. It’s a safe and sustainable toy rental subscription that allows you to introduce your kids to new high quality toys for one month at a time and then you trade them back in to get new-to-you toys the next month! We’ve been subscribed to Play with Yaya since August, and the toys are carefully curated based on your child’s age, development, and interests. Use code ARIEL10 for 10% off a whole year of your subscription (paid monthly.)

The newest toy in the girls’ playroom is the Tonies Box that Adina recently got for her birthday. It’s the sweetest screen-free music and audiobook player, designed for little hands with big imaginations! My girls have been listening to it since the moment we opened the package! It’s a portable digital audio player that plays stories + songs without ads or screens. It’s easy for kids to use! Simply place the magnetic characters on the top of the box to play music or a story. When you remove them they start + stop where they left off. You can also record + upload up to 90 minutes of your OWN custom messages, stories or songs. So cool, right?! This Tonies box would make a great birthday or holiday gift for any children ages 3-9.

We also love updating our bookshelf every month with new books from PJ Library. PJ Library sends Jewish children's books to families across the world every month for FREE, with stories that can help your family talk together about values and traditions that are important to you. They also host virtual (and in-person) events. PJ Library welcomes all Jewish families, whatever your background, knowledge, or family make-up, or observance may be. Since we joined 4 years ago, we’ve built an amazing library of Jewish children’s books with themes about the holidays, Jewish values, Shabbat and more.
